3 Fashion hacks to look lean in Indian attire

The six-pack trend is making rounds across the fashion industry. It is all about chiselled muscles and toned bodies. But let’s be honest, most of us aren’t really blessed with a ‘perfect’ body. And some of us might not be really interested in putting the extra efforts, from working out to restricting diet, to achieve a slim figure. But the only thing many of us might have in common is the desire to look slimmer and smarter. Well, dressing right can do that too!

So if you are looking for some ultimate fashion tricks to camouflage the flab and look stunning in Indian wear, then look no further! Mehta Saree Centre reviews three easy ways for women to achieve a slimmer and gorgeous look in ethnic wear.

Kurtis – Contemporary, yet ethnic!
If you are on the bulkier side, the thumb rule is to stop wearing body-hugging kurtis. Wear loose-fitted yet smartly designed kurtis. Pick dark hues that will tone down the volume of your body. Coming to fabrics, a material that’s too clingy is not the right one.

Cotton kurtis are best for everyday wear. The silhouette and length of the kurti can also work wonders. The best way to take the focus off thighs and hips is by wearing long kurtis with straight cuts or A-line cuts.

Bottom wear – The volume makes a huge difference!
The best way to choose bottom-wear for your body’s shape is to reverse the fitting logic. For those who are plump, slim-fit salwars work best! You could also try narrow salwars and make your waist look one size smaller. Do not go for bulkier ones as they will instantly add more volume to your legs. You could also pick churidars to complement your kurtis. Avoid body-hugging fabrics like lycra for churidars and go for the non-stretchable ones. Cigarette pants and palazzos are the latest fashion rage for a cool, ethnic look.

Sarees - For that ultra-glam look!
No traditional Indian attire is as charismatic as a saree. Pick the right colours and fabrics while choosing a saree. Avoid heavy or fluffy fabrics like silk, organza, or chanderi. Instead go for lightweight and flowing fabrics like chiffon, crepe and georgette to cut down on the body’s volume. Also, solid colors will create an illusion of a slimmer body, making you look nothing less than a diva.

The draping style also matters. Do not tuck in too many pleats around the navel as it will accentuate the stomach or waist flab. Spread the pleats for an even look. Be extra careful while picking blouses. Printed or embellished blouses are perfect for those with a heavier bust. Also, go for quarter-sleeved or full-sleeved blouses to cover heavy arms.

Follow these cheat codes and you can look like a celeb in the parties!
